EVENTS TO EDUCATE AND EMPOWER
LA FLORIDA CO-HOSTS BANK OF AMERICA'S CHIEF ECONOMIST
LA FLORIDA CO-HOST SHORT SALE SEMINAR
January 23, 2008
With so many opportunities to buy at a great price in the current marketplace, Gay Landreth, Broker of La Florida Coastal Properties in Grayton Beach, Florida, together with her sales team worked to create a series of events to educate and empower buyers, sellers and other Realtors®. Landreth believed that if those interested in real estate had good information, they would be more confident about the market and the industry.
“Most people get their economic news from media headlines,” Landreth said. “By their very nature, these headlines exist to get our attention. Sadly, bad news and doom-and-gloom predictions very efficiently catch our eyes or ears. We wanted to provide a more balanced, data-centric resource.”
Landreth organized events that featured Bank of America Chief Economist Lynn Reaser, Ph.D., hosted in cooperation with Ambling Resorts, developer of a Daytona Beach-front condominium, a La Florida listing. Hearing a wider range of economic data from a knowledgeable source was far more powerful than simply telling prospective buyers and local Realtors that now is a great time to buy.
La Florida also hosted an event in Santa Rosa Beach for Realtors to learn the finer points of profiting from distressed sales. Led by McNeese Title Company Attorney Peter Pike, the breakfast seminar focused on strategies to assist buyers and sellers, as well as useful information on working with financial institutions. The brokerage worked with several banks, mortgage companies and sellers to present pre-foreclosure properties to the 60 Realtors who attended. “People who attended the seminar were empowered with the information they needed to enter the distressed sale market,” Landreth said. “We had Realtors calling prospects from the meeting, and had two groups head straight out to showings.”
